Denise Driscoll’s paintings explore the mystery of connections sensed but not quite grasped. Playful diagrams map the relationship of part to whole across multiple perspectives. Color is layered and marks gather as paint is brushed, stamped, repelled, stenciled, masked, washed, sanded and dotted. Physical experience mixes with intangible ideas, world events, literature, memory, and dreams. Narratives spin, metaphors collide, emotions shift, and all is connected, each little piece to the other in these meditative labyrinths of color, texture, and form.
Driscoll is a multidisciplinary artist who uses painting, installation and collaborative practice to explore interconnection, inner experience and the power of pattern. Driscoll is a SOLO2017 winner at Bromfield Gallery with “Geometries of Inner Space” and a Curatorial Opportunity Grant winner with “Material Meditation” at the New Art Center in Newton in 2008. Her paintings and collaborative projects have been shown throughout New England. Driscoll holds an MFA in Visual Arts from Lesley University College of Art and Design (2007) where she currently teaches. Her studio is in Norwood, MA.
