This drawing speaks to my experience during the long period of isolation from my family during quarantine. I am unsure of when I will see my daughter again, and i morn the lost of precious time not spent with my aging parents. I have found solace in my garden which is full of reminders of my loved ones. Growing Passion flowers is a way to feel close to my mother at a time when I am separated from her (she used to bring me planters full of them). I started drawing images from my garden, and hidden symbols of my family began to appear in my work. Also symbols of the small moments of magic and joy that I experienced each day also found their way onto the paper as the ink flowed from my pen and out of my subconscious.
