Steve Sangapore’s “War in Heaven” is a 48 x 36 oil and ink painting self portrait on a wood panel from his Superposition series. The contemporary realist portrait is paired with a textured ink geometric line drawing. The work is mounted in an ornate gold wood frame, 59 x 47 x 3 inches, and is signed bottom center.

The Superposition series focuses on modern science, namely Quantum Theory, and questions consciousness and the creation of the universe. Contemporary science through empirical testing informs us that there is an inextricable and dualistic link between an observer and the object being observed. This series explores this duality by splitting the canvas into two halves. On one side, the world as we perceive and in which we interact, and the other a creative line work illustrating the superposition of particles and the non-locality of the quantum world.
