Artist Member Prospectus

Membership provides access to Fountain Street’s online storefront, the Gallery’s marketing and social media platforms, as well as the optional benefit of participating in group shows at locations in New England.

Membership could be right for you if you have an abundance of available work, particularly larger top quality work languishing in your studio. It is primarily an online membership with access to list and sell an unlimited number of works on Fountain Street Gallery’s online storefront. Membership may not be a good fit for you if you don’t have a lot of work to sell right now, or if you have difficulty with spreadsheets and computer work (although you could find someone to help you with this.)

Our Online Storefront

1stDibs is a well-respected third-party online marketplace for fine art and luxury goods that works exclusively with galleries and dealers. Our presence on 1stDibs greatly extends our reach, connecting Fountain Street artists with an international clientele we would not be able to reach on our own. As a curated marketplace with vetted galleries, 1stDibs provides collectors with a trusted environment for discovering and purchasing art, while its extensive marketing reaches audiences around the world.

Digital Platforms

In addition to our 1stDibs online storefront, Fountain Street extends its artists’ visibility through other leading digital art platforms, including Artsy and Artnet. Together, these platforms provide additional opportunities for collectors, curators, and art professionals to discover and engage with the work of Fountain Street artists.

• 1stDibs: Access to 1stDibs, a leading high-end online marketplace for art and design, with no limit to the number of works you can list.

• Artsy: Additional visibility through Artsy, the largest leading global platform for discovering and selling fine art.

• Artnet: Additional visibility through Artnet, a leading online marketplace and resource for the global art market.

Eligibility

All artists regardless of age, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender identification, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or disability are encouraged to apply.

• Artist may work in a single medium or embrace multiple mediums. All media are encouraged to apply.

• Fountain Street Gallery encourages work exploring social, cultural, historical, and/or political concepts.

• Artist must be 18 years or older.

Membership Acceptance

Artist Members are selected by an application process juried by a committee of long time members. Applications for new members are accepted on a rolling basis, and renew annually on December 1st.  

• Applications are accepted online ONLY.

• There is no fee to apply; the application is competitive, and artists are not guaranteed acceptance.

Financial Aid

There is no financial aid available at this time.

MEMBER BENEFITS

• Access to 1stDibs, a third-party online fine art marketplace, with no limit to the number of works you can list

• Visibility of work submitted to the 1stDibs online storefront on Artsy and Artnet, expanding your reach to additional collectors and art audiences

• 70/30 sales commission split (Artist/Gallery)

• Gallery website representation, including a gallery created artist landing page and link to your 1stDibs artist landing page

• Periodic group exhibition opportunities at locations throughout New England (exhibitions are optional; associated fees are not included in membership)

MEMBERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

• Annual membership fee of $1,140/yr ($95 per month if paid in full up front)

  • Option to set up recurring payments at $100/month

• 1 year membership commitment

  • December Membership Renewal

  • 60 day written notice on termination of membership

Application Requirements

The application for Membership is online only. 

Applicants will be vetted by a select group of current members. The Director may wish to conduct interviews/studio visits with applicants before making final decisions of acceptance.

• Artist Statement (300 words)

• Artist Bio (150 words)

• Current CV/Exhibition History (.pdf)

• 5 jpeg images of artwork created within the past three years. FILES MUST BE LABELED artist lastname_title.jpg
  Upload  JPEG files, 300dpi, 6 in. longest side, max file size 2MB. If this is a 3D piece, you may upload one additional image.

• Information about each artwork, including title, media, dimensions, price, and date created.
